Event Waiter
Event Waitstaff in NJ
Learn more
This is the role families describe as needing someone to serve. Our waiters cover the dining room from the first course to the clearing, they know the seating plan and the pace of the event, and they are Shomer Shabbos, so an event that crosses Shabbos does not create a problem in your hall.
What the role covers on site
The waiter covers the room: setting the service area before the guests arrive, serving the meal, keeping the tables clear, managing the drinks and handling the clearing afterwards. They are briefed on the menu before the event so they can describe the dishes accurately and serve the way the caterer intended.
On a Shabbat dinner or an aufruf, the setup happens before Shabbos and the service happens after it. Our waiters know the difference between a meal that is served and a room that has to be kept ready.
- Set the service area before the event and reset it afterwards
- Serve the meal and keep the tables clear through the event
- Handle the drinks service and the dietary questions at the table
- Clear and break down at the end, quietly and without noise
Day-of duties
- Set the service area and the tables before guests arrive
- Serve the meal and keep the table served properly
- Handle the drinks service and clear during the event
- Keep the dining room presentable through the programme
- Clear and reset after the meal
- Coordinate with the kitchen and with the caterer on timing
How we hire and screen
We look for people who can serve a large table without hovering and can read a room that is halfway through a long programme. A waiter who interrupts the speeches or clears too early changes the evening, so the practical experience matters more than the job title.
All of our waiters are Shomer Shabbos and work under the supervision of the Kashrus Council of Lakewood. That is a non-negotiable requirement for our placements, not a preference.
How to book
Send us the guest count, the menu format, the venue and the hours you need covered. We will come back with a crew sized to the room and a quote broken down by role and hours.
Most families book the waiters together with the kitchen help, since the two roles are planned against the same schedule. Three to four weeks is enough for most events; Shabbos dates and peak season need more.
FAQ
How many servers do we need for our event?
It depends on the guest count, the menu format and the hours. A plated dinner with a long programme and a buffet with an open dance floor need different ratios. Send us the numbers and we will size the crew for the room.
Are your waiters Shomer Shabbos?
Yes. All of our staff observe Shabbos, which means no driving on Shabbos and no prohibited work on the day. If your event crosses Shabbos, the crew's hours are planned around that.
Do your waiters work with our caterer?
Yes. We brief our waiters on your caterer's menu, their plating and their service method before the event, and we handle the coordination with them so the food arrives in the room when it should.
