Bris Staffing in Lakewood NJ

Learn more

A bris is a short ceremony in a long day. The mohel and the family carry the ceremony itself, and everything around it — the vachnacht meal, the morning guests, the hall setup — is logistics. We staff the logistics so the family can be at the bris.

About this event

The vachnacht is the night before the bris, and for many families it is the bigger event: a hosted meal for the mohel, the family and the guests who travel in for the morning. In the morning the room fills again, and the family is still hosting.

A bris crew covers the service at both points, with the option of splitting the night and the morning between one crew or two, depending on how early the family wants to be up and how much of the evening they are hosting at home.

Our staffing for this event

For the vachnacht meal, our kitchen help can cook and serve alongside your caterer or prepare the meal with the family in advance, and our waiters cover the room. For the morning of the bris, the crew sets the service area, serves the guests and clears afterwards.

When the bris is on Shabbos, the crew covering it is Shomer Shabbos, and the setup happens before Shabbos. Many families also book a mashgiach for the day so the kashrut of the event is supervised on site.

  • Vachnacht kitchen help and service for the night before
  • Waiters and bartenders for the vachnacht meal
  • Morning service for the bris itself
  • Optional mashgiach on request for kashrut supervision

Pricing notes

Bris staffing is quoted per event, and the vachnacht meal and the morning are quoted as separate parts so you can staff only what you need. Some families host the vachnacht at home and the bris at a hall; others need the crew to move between the two.

The mashgiach is quoted as its own line item, and we can schedule the supervision for the day only rather than for both parts.

Sample menus and roles

Vachnacht meals are usually a sit-down family meal with a dessert course, served family-style. Our kitchen help handles the cooking and the dishes so the family is not cooking the night before the bris and then hosting the morning after.

On the day itself, the crew's job is to keep the room running: service, clearing, and the reset for whoever comes next.

FAQ

Do you staff the vachnacht as well as the bris?

Yes, and most families want both covered. The vachnacht meal is usually the larger event and needs kitchen help as much as it needs waiters, while the morning of the bris needs service and setup. We quote them separately so you can staff only the parts you are hosting.

Can your staff cook for the vachnacht meal?

Yes. Our kitchen help can prepare and cook the vachnacht meal with your family or with your caterer, handling the shopping, the prep, the cooking and the cleanup so you are not cooking the night before your son's bris. Tell us the menu and the number of guests and we will tell you what the crew needs.

Is a mashgiach available for a bris?

Yes, a mashgiach is available on request for the day, coordinated with the Kashrus Council of Lakewood where the venue requires it. Many families add it for a bris because the event brings several food preparers together in one space.

How far in advance do we need to book bris staffing?

Four to six weeks is typical, and we suggest more in peak season or when the vachnacht and the morning are both being covered. Bris dates are often fixed around the mohel and the family, so bring us the date early and we will hold the crew.

Ready to book?

Send us the date, the venue, the guest count and the hours. We will come back with the crew that fits this event and a quote itemised by role and by hour.
