Yom Tov

Pesach Event Staffing — Kashering and Preparation

Pesach is the one festival where the work happens well before the first night. The kitchen has to be cleaned and kashered, the food has to be sourced and prepared with a restricted menu, and the house has to be ready. Our Pesach crews cover that work so the family can spend the festival as guests in their own home.

Kashering and cleaning for Pesach

The cleaning for Pesach is not a normal clean. It is a specific sequence, in a specific order, with the kitchen emptied down to the surfaces and the equipment. Families who have done it themselves know how much of the day it takes, and how easily it turns into the whole holiday weekend.

Our kitchen help works through it with the family, following the practice your household keeps. We are not in the business of ruling on your Pesach preparation — confirm the specifics with your own mashgiach or rabbi — but we are very good at the physical work of it, and at cooking the menu once the kitchen is ready.

  • Kitchen help for the cleaning and the kashering, with the family
  • Cooking once the kitchen is ready, to a Pesach menu agreed in advance
  • Service staff for the seder or the seder dinner
  • A mashgiach on request, coordinated with KCL

Staffing the seder or the seder dinner

Many families in this area hold a seder or a seder dinner with family and guests, and the evening has a rhythm of its own. The meal is served in courses, there is a reason for the order, and the service needs to follow it without holding anyone up.

Our waiters are briefed on the menu and the order of service before the event, so they can serve the meal the way it is meant to be served. They also know that a seder table is not a room to clear on a timer — the meal moves when the people at the table are ready for it to move.

Shomer Shabbos and a Yom Tov meal

Pesach often includes Shabbat, and the same rule applies as at any other Shabbos event: the crew arrives before the day, the food is prepared beforehand, and nothing is cooked while the festival or the Sabbath is in progress.

Our crews are Shomer Shabbos and work under the supervision of the Kashrus Council of Lakewood. For a family keeping Pesach properly, that is the qualification that matters, and it is why we can bring an outside crew into a kitchen that is being prepared for the festival.

How far ahead to book Pesach staffing

Eight weeks is the honest recommendation for Pesach, and earlier if you want a mashgiach or a full kitchen crew for the preparation days. Pesach is the busiest festival of the year for kosher staffing, because the preparation is longer and the standard is tighter.

There is a useful middle option if the date is tight: book the preparation days with us and handle the seder table with your own people, or the other way round. Tell us which parts are hardest in your house and we will staff around them.

What to tell us

The dates of your cleaning and your seder, the venue, the number of guests, whether the menu is already planned and whether you want the preparation covered or only the service. With that, we will come back with a schedule and a quote itemised by role and by hour.

We cover Lakewood and the surrounding radius: Brick, Toms River, Jackson and Howell. Ask us about a date and we will tell you straight whether we can hold a crew for it.
